There is a major flaw with Android and the Doro 8030 implementation. AND ITS COST ME A FORTUNE - actually most of the initial topup of £10.
When I bought the Doro 8030 it came with a compulsory £10 topup with O2. This could have been useful to use to 'learn' the phone before installing my original Giffgaff SIM card. However there is a major flaw / 'bug' in the Android OS. Perhaps this a deliberate con. by Google / Doro / O2? This is that randomly the phone switches on the Mobile Data service. This immediately deducts £1 from the topup even if the mobile data it not used or if the service is quickly switched off. So my initial £10 topup has been quickly soaked up and effectively lost due to these spurious and random charges. Luckily I have no intention of using O2 again beyond the initial £10. Scammed once I'm not being scammed again. Now my Doro now has my original Giffgaff SIM card in it with a minimum 'goody-bag.' But I do fear the time when I go overseas and the damned phone spuriously switches on Mobile Data for me to be charged the exorbitant and criminal rates that all mobile telcos now impose especially outside Europe.
