Job Description
Role & Responsibilities
• Strong knowledge on install, configure and manage Microsoft
Windows server 2003 & 2008 OS
• Administer VMware ESX\VSphere infrastructure
• Virtual Machine management
• Managing and Troubleshooting ESX Servers
• Strong Knowledge on VMware management tools
• Knowledge on Remote system administration
• Troubleshooting the incidents & problems reported on the
servers
• Provide the root cause analysis on the major
incidents/problems
• To carry out the scheduled activities like Patch Management,
Server reboot, Etc…
• Patch management and Virus Management
• H/W troubleshooting & Vendor coordination
• Firmware & BIOS upgrade
• Understanding of capacity planning, performance Monitoring
and tuning.
• Hand-on knowledge on various RAID technologies (RAID 0+1,
RAID 1, RAID 5 etc.)
• Should have scripting (PERL/Shell) knowledge for scripted
installs, Comfortable with using Virtual Center.
• Working knowledge on Linux environment
• Sound knowledge of SAN environment
• Contribute to internal knowledge management system
• Generating regular reports
• Ready to work in 24x7

• 10 years of Experience in System administration
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.

VSphere OS Performance tuning & management
VSphere Hardware Upgrade, OS Upgrade
VMware File system upgrade (VMFS Volumes)
Storage allocation to Guest
VSphere HA Configuration & Administration
DRS Configuration & administration
VMware Data store Management
OS & Software Depot Management
Reporting Performance status
Reviewing ESX server performance
Restricting root access to ESX
Enabling external Authentication
• VM Vsphere Vmotion, HA, DRS,
• Virtual Machine Management
• VMware tools
VMware Capacity Planner Service
VMware Converter Enterprise Service (P2V)
• Virtual Network/Storage Architecture and Connectivity
planning
• VMware Update manager
• VMware Site Recovery Manager
Certifications:
1. Certified VMWARE Vsphere 5.x Administrator (VCP)
2. MCP/MCSA Certifications
Client Environnent:
• 1000+ Windows Server 2003 & 2008, 75 ESX Hosts, Citrix
XenApp 6.5/6.0. & Exchange, blackberry as messaging on Cisco UCS & HP
hardware with EMC and NetApp storage arrays; monitored leveraging
Nimsoft, Edgesight, HP Insight Manager & System Pulse (EPIC) with
Netbackup & McAfee as Anti-virus tool
Technical Skills Required
Key skills required: (in the order of priority)
1. VMware Servers administration.
2. Cisco UCS experience
