The Sr. Data Modeler is highly skilled at translating business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models that will capture and maintain all required data elements needed to support business and technical requirements. The Sr. Data Modeler is responsible for reducing data redundancy, increasing data quality, and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to address privacy and security concerns. The Sr. Data Modeler ensures that corporate data strategies are integrated into individual project solutions and appropriate governance structures are identified and addressed. Responsibilities: • Identify data needed to support appropriate business and technical requirements for technology projects. • Mentor other data modelers in the design, capture, and document logical data models and subsequently partner with SQL Developers to build appropriate physical databases as well as guidance to more holistic and enterprise-wide thinking. • Conduct deliverable reviews with data modelers to ensure data related standards and best practices are met. • Proactively educate others on basic data management concepts such as data governance, master data management, data warehousing, big data, reporting, data quality, and database performance. • Nurture relationships with various business and technical teams across the company to expand the understanding and importance of data related concepts. • Lead efforts to research, identify, and profile data sources to uncover data anomalies and potential data quality concerns. • Oversee the documentation of source to target mapping specifications including any necessary transformation, translation or business rules. • Analyze and/or reverse engineer existing file and database structures. • Troubleshoot data related issues as well as provide assistance in supporting production systems. Advocate data design for multiple projects at a time, navigate gray areas of responsibility and work with others to find optimal data designs and solutions. • Define and implement process improvement and process efficiency action plans. • Pursue learning about new technologies and industry data management trends and, if appropriate, recommend their possible use within the company. Requirements: • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a data modeling, data design, or database administration role. • Superior listening skills, ability to learn quickly, a client-focused mindset, and willing to accept accountability for company and individual success. • Extensive critical thinking skills for problem identification and solution recommendation. Expert-level SQL coding abilities required. • Technology experience required includes ERwin, Visio, and various SQL query tools. • Superior written and verbal communication skills with business and technical people at various levels within the organization. • Highly flexible, set priorities and meet deadlines in a changing environment. • Exceptional team player that can lead others in demonstrating initiative and sound business judgment and is interested in expanding skills and growing professionally.
