*Rate: 55/hr. max on C2C* *Visas Accepted: H4-EAD, GC, GCEAD* *Job Title: System Analyst II* *Location: Remote* *Client Domain: Research* *Contract Length: 6 months* *Job Description:* As a Systems Analyst, you will be part of an organization whose IT technologies are as exciting and progressive as our science. We are currently looking for motivated individuals who will work with our faculty, researchers, computational scientists, research software engineers, system administrators, and other Research IT staff to plan, design and launch efficient cloud systems in support of scientific research functions and processes. This includes gathering data and documenting processes and requirements to help maximize Research IT systems investments. A successful Systems Analyst candidate will have expertise and experience with commercial cloud computing platforms, including AWS, GCP, and Azure. *Responsibilities* - Based on the scientific needs of the community, identify and recommend innovative solutions, and integrated proposals for server, storage, and network systems, including hardware and software acquisition, installation and administration. - Install and update scientific and research applications in compute environment, document system changes, write and maintain documentation for end users. - Investigate application issues, document findings: communicate with scientists to answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and develop appropriate computational strategies to process and analyze their data. - Benchmark application, pipelines, and workflow performance, and determine areas for improved efficiencies. - Create system design proposals: Stay current with new trends and emerging information technologies and informatics tools, advocate for and lead the adoption of these technologies. Provide guidance, support, training, and advice in Research IT systems to scientists. Develop and deliver training programs, tutorials, and workshops for scientists on the optimal use of Research IT resources in their research projects. Research and evaluate new products and services for applicability to in-house needs. Assist in preparation for submitting grant proposals. Consult and collaborate with system administrator coworkers to determine best system configurations for applications. Provide technical support internally and to external vendors including problem resolution for complex systems and cloud solutions. Help integrate Research IT resources with laboratory equipment, such as DNA sequencers and microscopes.
