*Job Description:* Summary: Design, implement and support the Linux server environments for both internal and external projects. Work closely with the technical team leads to develop and implement new policy initiatives and best practice guidelines. Install and maintain systems hardware in four Master Headends and assist with physical Data Center Operations (50+% of work load). Responsibilities: ● Design, manage, maintain, and document both internal and customer Linux environments. ● Write and review technical specifications for Linux based environment. ● Resolve performance, security and reliability issues with production Unix environments ● Configuration and support for Cisco UCS environment ● Test Linux hardware and software to verify conformance to the configuration design ● Develop, maintain and manage Linux Security Build design and testing tools ● Development, maintenance and management of monitoring systems and tools. ● Development, maintenance and management of applications that support our Internal Unix infrastructure and services. ● Provide third-level client support. ● Participate in the overall design and management of the internal network environment. ● Write system automation programs using Perl and shell or other scripting languages. ● Manage the production problems, root cause analysis/resolution for system issues, defects and enhancements. ● Maintain the health of systems by identifying and applying patches and firmware upgrades. ● Install server hardware, cabling, troubleshoot and replace defective hardware in four Master Headends. ● Advanced knowledge of UNIX operating systems (RedHat Linux, CentOS 7, Solaris) 7-10 years’ experience ● Proficiency with hardware configuration, software installation and configuration, system operation and fault discovery/resolution and network configuration. ● Proficiency with the VMware environment in building the ESX hosts, VMs, configuring vSwitch, storage and migration from old to new environment. How are the primary skills/experience applied? To be applied in the daily Data Center operations, installing and building of systems in four Master Headends. Tasks will include: Server Racking, Cabling, Setting Management Console, Update Firmware, Configure Raid, Memory (RAM) Replacement, Disk Replacement, and Decommission Hardware, Un-rack and Remove Cables and disposing of deprecated hardware. Monitoring and supervising all data center solutions and meet end to end data center tasks like labelling, cabling, racking, unracking, troubleshooting and replacing hardware components. Upgrade firmware of components to resolve compatibility issues. ● Spacewalk Administration ● Working Storage experience with iSCSI SAN, FC SAN, NAS, multipathing technologies on Netapp, EMC, Clariion, PURE and isilon storages. ● Advanced knowledge of Security Concepts, system administration, network protocols, system monitoring How are the secondary skills/experience applied? Support of applications and deploying of systems in the production server environments. Maintain the updating of the Spacewalk server to always house the latest repos to patch, upgrade CentOS/RHEL Operating Systems and remediate vulnerabilities. ● Working Knowledge of PKI concepts and standards with solid experience with public key authentication. ● Experience with TCP/IP network administration. ISP / Enterprise infrastructure, network configuration ● Expert troubleshooting and OS patching skills. How are the tertiary skills/experience applied?
