The original code I used came from the SDK sample code. Specifically, look in ...\samples\ApiDemos\src\com\example\android\apis\app. There are a lot of different capabilities demonstrated there, and the ones you want are in RemoteService.java, RemoteServiceBinding.java, & RemoteServiceController.java. The commenting is pretty good, so it shouldn't take much time to piece it all together.
