I have encountered the same problem using ubuntu 9.04 RC. Clicking the 'x' does not terminate the emulator, I have to manually kill the emulator process. I tried the suggestion above "killall -9 esd" and it does not help. For me, this issue happens all the time and I have manually kill the process. Any other suggestions?
