Basically, you don't. Your content view will be resized for you to account for it. Also when you create windows they will be positioned below it, unless you specify the "layout in screen" flag.
(Now that said, there is this little View.fitSystemWindows() method that gets called to help the view hierarchy position your content view relative to screen decorations... but I would urge against using it, there should be no need.)
