I had emulator issues when i first migrated to cupcake. I had to do a wipe all the existing data and ever since it booted up fine. Have you tried
emulator -wipe-data // reset the use data image (copy it from initdata) As you can see i lost all the applications installed on the emulator, but it was not hard to push them back. Hope that helps.
