hey Chris Funny, I just finished a very similar project. One thing to note, you cant compile the built in sms client sourcecode with the SDK, as it uses classes that are not in the SDK. That said, the classes used to work with SMS are very starightforward. Also, the content URI doesn't seem to be publically posted yet, but there is a post on google groups where someone has figured out the table headings that would be useful.
