It may be you're not re-populating the ListView over configuration changes. Try this: with the list showing properly, press the call button (which should pause your activity), then press the back button to resume your activity. Is the ListView populated? If not, you may have a logic problem, not a layout problem. Make sure the adapter and list are re-filled in your onCreate() code when your activity is paused or destroyed. You may need to save state info somewhere.
