1) Do not change default colors :) As user, I am used to some color scheming, and all I need to know is that I am hovering or selecting something. It is not an aesthetic race..on appstore I saw application in which I was searching for ok button for 2 minutes. It wasn't there..author decided it is better to have "peel page" control.
