This web service is used by several services (dotNet applications and iPhone) and therefore cannot be changed, also the dataset parameter is sensible for the purpose.
I have decided to create a wrapper function in the web service that accepts in a string representation of the dataset, this function will then create the dataset from the xml string and then call the original service. its just a shame that KSoap cannot handle this.
