I published my first app recently and ran into the same problem when I tried purchasing it to test the process. Looks like it isn't allowed: "Please note that it is against Google Checkout's policies to purchase your own application. I'm in the US on T-Mobile running a G1 with the official OTA 1.6 firmware.
