Dear Users, PLEASE HELP ME!!! I am currently running Android 1.6 on my G1 and after recently updating from 'cupcake' to 1.6, I have encountered the problem that people seem to have encountered before: my call log keeps listing numbers that I call or receive calls from as 'unknown', despite the fact that all these numbers are in my contacts. The following is a link to the issue:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2949 In that thread, I seem to have found two solutions: 1. Complete factory reset of phone. 2. STEPS: 1) Get to a shell prompt. If you're using ADB, it's "adb shell". If you're using a terminal/console app, just launch it. 2) Type "rm /data/misc/rild_ril.clip" 3) Reboot the phone. Firstly, my phone is currently not rooted and I have no real intention of rooting it. Also, I am not really fond of the idea of a factory reset. That leaves me with only the second option. The problem is that I am not into all this technical language about 'shell prompts', 'ADB' and so on... Would there be a very kind person here who would care to explain how I should resolve this problem in simple language, avoiding rooting the phone or a factory reset? I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
