I am currently understanding the process of understanding the effort
needed to port GPS using NAVILINK NL 5350 on Android . For A-GPS
Userplane to be supported its needed that SUPL 1.0 be supported by
GPS hardware which NL 5350 supports.

In case that network needs to know the handset's location,
it will sends a trigger to the handset to initiate an A-GPS session
and inform the location to the network. This trigger from the network
is in the form of a WAP push or SMS.

I had come across some posts which mentions that to
support this requirement handset needs to have a background
application be present to which the SMS is delivered by Android and
which in turn triggers the modem stack to initiate a A-GPS session. I
wanted to know if this kind of background is already present in
android.( It is mentioned in their site that they support SUPL.) or
OEMs need to implement such a background application.
