compatible with some current android handsets, but even if they are

Thanks for the suggestion Michael, unfortunately my current grasp of
the Chinese language just about allows me to order a meal and ask for
the bill .... reading is a whole different story :p
If as you suggest Google is now so large and fragmented that related
departments with common interests dont have any kind of communication
then we probably will be left without an answer for some time, but I
will continue to be hopeful.

I am personally backing the China Mobile blocking theory at the moment
as that answers many of the questions. I read this article a few days
ago and whilst the comments go off subject, the point being made is
definitely interesting:

Just for the record, over the last 48 hours there has been no blocking
of sync in the GZ area where I live ... anyone else noticed any
changes?
