Hello, I too was having the rmentioned issues with Karmic when I found these updated Eclipse releases with the required files already included. Made for a great Android install.
Here's the link. http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/downloads/ I used: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/galileo/SR1/eclipse-php-galileo-SR1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz which seem to fix all the issues except for device recognition.
