After reading up on many posts about this subject, it seems like standard camera support is going to be iffy on all the different devices coming out now. It seems the only 'safe' thing to do is get the memory-only image from the camera intent which is 192x256. The Facebook app only acquires images at this resolution, I'm guessing because they knew there might be problems using the other camera capture methods on future devices? Images at 192x256 are real small, I doubt they used that size by choice.
If anyone has any info that'd be great. It seems like the camera- intent-write-to-file doesn't work on all platforms either, and rolling your own camera via surfaceview has its dangers as well with having to support auto-focus and whatever else new manufacturers come up with.
