I think Berkeley DB Java Edition (http://www.oracle.com/technology/ products/berkeley-db/je/index.html) is good option for you! By using DPL API in Berkeley DB Java Edition, any java class can be stored easily. Further more, Berkeley DB Java Edition have better performance and higher concurrency support than SQLite.
