I think this works:

InputMethodManager inputMethodManager = (InputMethodManager)
getSystemService(
                                Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE );
                inputMethodManager.showSoftInput ( yourEditText,
InputMethodManager.SHOW_FORCED );

you might have to force the edittext to be focused by running
"yourEditText.requestFocus()" first, Im not sure.
