You mean the "dump hprof" button in DDMS? If you use the standalone version it should over you to save it (not converted) somewhere local, you shouldn't have to pull it from the SD Card yourself. If you use the DDMS plugin (part of ADT), then it should either open it directly in Eclipse after converting it automatically (default behavior, if MAT is installed it should be used by Eclipse automatically to view the file), or offer you to save it not converted (see the Eclipse preferences under Android > DDMS) Xav -- Xavier Ducrohet Android SDK Tech Lead Google Inc.
