Actually, the category is more likely to be changing the behavior than
the action is, in my fuzzy understanding of what's affecting you.

If you find that the DEFAULT category is important to you because of
these side effects, leave the category alone and create a unique action
("com.commonsware.android.well.maybe.this.WORKS"). Replacing
com.commonsware with your own package, of course, unless you just want
to blame me for all this... :-)
