The bars shown there are for simulation only and do not indicate actual strength of signal. The only two states I have ever seen that icon in on the emulator are two bars (normal) and no bars (the emulator did not detect a network connection when the AVD was started). > I have also noticed that emulator would get the network only if i am > connected to the internet, else it gives no signal Correct. > I am trying to simulate a very simple sms message sending and receving > between two instances of emulators opened on 2 AVD. > The message sending is successful only if my internet connection is on > before i launch the emulator, else it gives no Service and message is > not sent. Correct. When you have no network connection, the emulator simulates having no connectivity whatsoever. > I have noticed that a DNS SERVER NOT FOUND warning comes if i try to > launch the emulator with my internet connection switched off. Correct. After all, it probably cannot find a DNS server. > Is there any way out to solve this? I recommend that you have a network connection when you start your emulator. -- Mark Murphy (a Commons Guy) http://commonsware.com | http://twitter.com/commonsguy Android Training in US: 26-30 April 2010: http://onlc.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
