Thanks everyone for the info. I didn't automatically assume it was spam -- I guess I'm still a little bit of an optimist... ;-) But there was nothing in this to connect it definitively to Google. The website is on sites.google.com, so anyone could have made it.
I think we can all agree that we have to be careful on the net. And the flipside of this is that genuine operators have a duty to provide some means of confirming that they're real.
