I've been trying to get into android development lately, and I have had a few issues using the 2.0.1 and up emulators.
I've been trying to do some of the simple Hello World type applications to ensure that I know at least the basics function on my machine. I downloaded the SDK Installer and installed SDK versions 1.5, 1.6, 2.0.1 and 2.1. I have been successful in making the Hello World app on 1.5 and 1.6 and having it run on the emulator. When I create apps on 2.0.1 or 2.1 I and try to start the emulator (either start it separate to the app, or start it when "Debug As -> android app" the emulator starts up, gets to the main unlock screen, and within a minute essentially freezes and restarts (Goes back to ANDROID loading screen and never gets back beyond it. The effective results is that I can't use the Android v2 emulators at all. On top of that, they also cause my computer to practically freeze and become unusable while starting up. This occurs whether I start the emulator while the Eclipse SDK is up, or whether it's close and I simply start is via the normal windows tools. Is this a common issue that there is a simple solution for or am I just an anomaly? Also, the 1.5 version emulator seems to run alright, but I'd rather not be developing around a year+ old version even if Android is supposed to be nicely backwards compatible. The 1.5 emulator will at least start, and allow me to interact with the OS and try my app, so if it's 1.5 compliant, it works fine. My machine basics: Windows 7, 64bit version QuadCore i7 920 6GB ram Let me know if you need more information on my runtime specs, or if you have a clue what might be wrong. -Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
