Could someone from Google PLEASE update the documentation for this function and the samples that use it incorrectly? It is the source of massive confusion for people new to the platform and results in basically the exact same "my dialog is crashing" question on an almost weekly basis. It shouldn't take someone more than 10 minutes to comment this function warning people not to use it and to do a find and replace on the examples to change it to "this" (or whatever is appropriate in the samples). This will ultimately save a TON of time people would otherwise waste trying to figure out why the examples don't work, posting here, and ultimately getting the exact same answer every time.
