Hi all:
Anyone can tell me why the method isVerticalScrollBarHidden() which in View is annotated as @hide

When i try to override it , it is works well, but when i add a @Override on my own method or i try to invoke

the parent's(View.class) method i get a compile error, i can't call isVerticalScrollBarHidden() in View.class

because it is invisible but i have see the code of View :

/**
* Override this if the vertical scrollbar needs to be hidden in a subclass, like when
     * FastScroller is visible.
     * @return whether to temporarily hide the vertical scrollbar
     * @hide
     */
    protected boolean isVerticalScrollBarHidden() {
        return false;
    }

it is PROTECTED ..... but i can't call it in my subclass... but i can override it.
Who can tell me why? What is the meaning of @hide.
