How do you know the home screen the user is using even *has* the concept of "launcher icons"? Please remember that there is no single home screen: Google Experience devices have two (1.x, 2.x), HTC Sense devices have at least one, MOTOBLUR devices have at least one, etc. Plus, there are third-party home screens that can be installed and used. In short, no, there is no way to "get the location or (x,y) coordinates of the launcher icons on home screen", and any design that assumes anything about the nature of the home screen is doomed.
