Hello! I'm new to android and currently writing my first app. In one activity, I want to have a custom view (or not? this is the question) thats looking like a gearwheel with numbers on it seen from the frontal view. I can give the wheel a spin with my fingertips when wiping down or up, letting it spin until it stops. The time until it stops depends how fast you wipe over it. I call this thing flywheel. And I want at least two of them on the screen. And they should appear like there is a hole in the screen and they are behind that hole, leaving only 3 or 5 numbers visible. The number in the middle is the selected one. Ouf... hope you unterstand what i am trying to explain with my crappy english.
So, what is the best way to achive what i want? It would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction, because what I am doing now doesnt feel right. I extended the View class and drawing simple rects in the onDraw method. Or should I use GLSurfaceView? Or can I work with Path and PathEffects? Or...? It is very hard to move rects around and the text and I even dont know how to crop it so that it fits into my hole. Or is there a way to create a rect with a stroke that looks like a frame and make the "inner part" transparent and put my flywheel behind it? Thanks for your help! - sneaker182 PS: If my app will someday be finished, I put it for free on the market. Seriously, you will love it!!! :-) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
