Unfortunately, animations were not added to Android to make thing moves continuously, but more to add some transition effects between states and things like that. They are not really good performance wise.
Beside the media player is like a resource hog, so much so, that I had to disable music playing during my game because I was loosing 5 to 10 frames per second when I had music in the background in multiplayer mode :s Put the two together and I think you'll have a hard time having a smooth rotation while music plays using basic view animation. I can only recommend if you want to have fancy effects that you take a look at SurfaceView. Then you'll be able to control exactly the drawing and have a much better frame rate with almost no lag at all either with the music or off Good luck.
