Hi guys, Iam a fanatic paraglider and iam searching for a solution to replace my Variometer with a mobile. I thought android would be the best platform to try this. I wanted to try this on a HTC - Legend. I know that most of the new android phones can measure speed accelleration but a Variometer uses air pressure measururements, but the problem is if i am right that just the beginning accelleration is measured and i will not receive any changes ie. if the same speed is kept. I dont know if some mobiles have airpressure/altitude measurement. GPS will not be exact enought (50m tolerance) and update speed is way to low.
What i would need for that application: * Altitude measurement (will if the mobile is rising/ falling) * Update speed of around 1-3 sec of this altitude data, best will be 1 sec * Exact(good) measurement around 2-3 feet or 1-2 meters, best will be 1 feet So any ideas how to solve this issue...? I even thought of an external component which is able to measure the air pressure and connect it via usb, but does the android sdk support usb connected stuff? Is there a mobile available with build in air pressure sensors? Or can i use the build in speed accelleration measurement for this? thanks in advance -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group.
