This may be overkill but - you could try keeping track and managing this
yourself. For example you could maintain your own stack as a static that
each instance adds / removes itself to / from as it's created / destroyed.
When you hit a limit of how many you want to allow open, starting
finish()ing the excess activities from the bottom up.

Again, might be overkill and a cheap hack to work around the Market's
stupidity, but if it's that big of a problem for you, it's either that or
wait for the Market to work correctly - which might be quite a while ...
