Hi All

I am trying to understand the different ways in which I can build a
collaborative application between android devices and just need a
little input...

I can think of three scenarios in which devices can be identified,
discover each other and communicate:

 - WiFi - each device has an IP address, no problem, standard stuff.
 - Bluetooth - each device has a MAC address, again no problem here.
 - Mobile operator (carrier) connectivity - can someone explain how
devices are identified when the only connection available is a mobile
operator's network? How do devices discover each other, communicate
with each other and how can apps inter-operate over this kind of
connectivity?

Is that the only three ways? Have I missed any other means of getting
devices talking?

Thanks for any advice.
