The problem is that a *finalizer* is stuck for that long. If you can eliminate the finalizer, problem solved. If you can't, you need to eliminate the interdependence between the finalizer and the slow-running thread. The VM assumes that finalizers finish quickly, and anything taking a really long time is probably deadlocked.
