I'm bumping this thread because I could really use an answer. I'm developing an app on the G1 phone and I can't find any info on the focal length or field of view for the camera. If anyone has this info, or knows where I can find it I'd greatly appreciate it. The camera.getHorizontalViewAngle () command seems like it would return a value from the camera that I could use, but I'd like my app to run on pre 2.2 hardware.
