Notification and intent already exist in WinMo and MacOS X OS.
Android make it in JAVA beccause it doesn't exist.
The fact is for example Google maps is able to locate you on Iphone
and WinMo.
There is a cell change notification, sms notification, hardware
notification etc.
 inter windows message notification, message queue notification/
registering.
With this I think it is enough to made information available between
application,
and for doing some of aware application.
So android bring no revolution in programming.

To be a success Android have to seduce user, and google is nothing
than a search engine
for most people and android is a sort of robot :).
I think this is an important thing to take into account.
