Hi GodsMoon, Dan U.

This is one area which SlideME (http://slideme.org) is trying to address:
getting some money into the hands of developers. For the small developer in
mobile, there is rarely a big payout with developing apps. I went through
all of this a number of years ago, working on J2ME. Most of the benefits
come in terms of consulting or contract opportunities, based on skills
learned and people being impressed with your work. But these gigs can be
very profitable. In regards to the applications themselves, I worked inside
the mobile space (including a carrier) and there is not much of a focus on
the little guy. There are so many apps from big names, frankly the
carriers don't have time to deal with the small ones.

Given all this, we built SlideME as a way for the small developer to promote
their application, get donations and get consulting gigs. We've built up
these same features on the client, which we will release next month. By the
time devices hit the market, we will have all the billing issues sorted out
for pricing your app and getting it to the users. We are focusing on the
little guys. We also are trying to line up sponsors to donate money for
prizes (not there yet on this one). So feel free to put up your app on
SlideME and start promoting yourself.
