Hi Nick,

Why shouldn't I expect Apple to have a mapping API? Apple partnered
with Google to provide a Map application for the iPhone. So Apple
could just as easily have partnered with Google on a mapping API for
the iPhone SDK.

The point though is that Apple is missing the opportunity here. Then
again...the iPhone is really an iPod that makes phone calls and not a
fully fledged mobile computing platform...for that, we need to turn to
Android for now.

Create my own MapView with WebKit!?!?!? Are you kidding? From all
the apps I've seen submitted to the Challenge, >90% of the most
interesting ones take advantage of GPS coordinates. Would all these
great applications have been submitted if everyone had to create their
own MapActivity from scratch...?

Still wondering how long Apple will continue to be misguided about the
potential of mobile phones outside the pure media play.

Anthony
