I first heard about android some months ago and recently found the website and began reading about it more in depth. The idea of open source phone software meeting hardware is extremely exciting, especially after Apple has taken a back-step from putting cellular carriers in a lower place by letting them subsidize the 3g iPhone.
I was wondering if there was any indication on the types of phones that will be needed to run the Android platform. Will this software be portable to currently avalible phones, or will the phone have to be designed to run it. I know windows mobile is a fairly powerful OS for phones and Im certain that with the right software someone could flash these devices to run a new OS, assuming its capable. What are the hardware requirments? I played a little with the emulator and got very excited. I think having a phone that doesn't scream "IM ON VERIZON/AT&T/TMOBILE/ROGERS" is a wonderful step in putting the hardware and software on the frontline, and letting the network take the backseat as it should be. Making mobile devices less of a disposable commodity to lure our Paris Hilton culture into phone contracts. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
