My PRIMARY concern regarding Android and Google calendars (or PIM in general, for that matter) is ensuring that local copies are stored on the device. I go in and out of WiFi/cellular coverage throughout my day and cannot rely exclusively on the cloud for my calendar and contacts data. Being able to sync a copy of all the calendars I view (my own, my family members', and public calendars) to my device for use offline will be crucial, at least for me.
