I can not find any info on visual-voicemail for the T-Mobil HTC Dream (G1). It has to have that! It's just not something that could be left out. Without it I would actually consider not getting a G1 (and avoid switching to T-Mobil).
...so that got me to thinking, what if the visual voice mail becomes part of your GMail, just like GTalk voice mail messages do. That is how it should be! Full integration of email, phone messages, texts, IM chats, and MMS in one inbox which is on your phone and accessible on the web. ...so then that got me to thinking, conversely, why not make it so when my phone rings, GTalk could also ring and I could choose to answer on my cell-phone or on GTalk? ...and why not allow GTalk to call over VoIP and have it charge you minutes just like your cell phone does? Could this ever come true? 1) Your provider would have to allow incoming rings to go out to GTalk as well as to the phone, and they would pay your GTalk VoIP bill in exchange for using "plan" minutes. Probably not going to happen with T-Mobil, but maybe eventually with another network. 2) The Android phone could act as a bridge, ringing your GTalk when it rings and allowing you to place cell-calls through the GTalk connection to the phone. Will the T-Mobil G1 allow simultaneous voice and data (I sure hope so)? Can the the G1 record a live phone call stream or play an audio stream on to a phone call? I doubt Google would be able to pull all this off on 1st launch. Someday... someday... I'm optimistically hoping they surprise me with at least Visual- Voicemail appearing in my GMail inbox. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
