I've got two different hats on this, as a a consumer and as a developer. Wearing my consumer hat, I'm not impressed with the device or applications. Wearing my developer hat, I think this will be really cool, provided that the device is open. I didn't see anything more than lip service as to the openness, so I'll wait for launch. I think we already see causalities like AndNav, demonstrating how open, open is.
