I've talked this over with George and we have decided to go ahead and prep http://slideme.org for the October 22nd launch. We have a big unknown right now, whether T-Mobile will let SAM install your applications, or whether they have locked this feature down on the device. We are going to charge ahead and test the limits of Android's openness.
Prior to launch, we are going to release a version of SAM, which will support a chunk of the OMA OTA spec. When devices launch, we would appreciate people testing SAM, making sure it works for them. Also we need devs who have already uploaded, to think about pricing, or whether they want to keep it free. This is our best shot at creating a community provisioning server for Android.
