Or ones that are purchased through the developers' Web sites. Or any number of other places that might spring up. > Its like Dell tells me what I can or cannot install on my Laptop, > absolutely ludicrous. The clause quoted by ComputerWorld does not say you can't install what you want, only that Google can remove any app that "violates the developer distribution agreement". The "developer distribution agreement" isn't the agreement you may have agreed to when downloading the SDK -- that's the "Android Software Development Kit License Agreement". Since I don't recall any other agreements floating around, the "developer distribution agreement" is presumably one tied to Android Market. This is further supported by the fact that the quoted passage referring to this agreement comes from the Android Market terms of service. If somebody has concrete evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see it. So, again, if you don't like the "kill switch", don't buy apps from the Android Market. Many apps will be in multiple distribution channels. If there's some app you find that is only available via the Android Market, contact the developer and ask them to consider supporting alternate channels. Now, if Google starts using the kill switch for things installed by means other than the Android Market, *then* we have a problem. -- Mark Murphy (a Commons Guy) http://commonsware.com _The Busy Coder's Guide to Android Development_ Version 1.3 Published! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
