Personally I thought it was a fair enough review. The point he was trying to get across with the G1 is that most people are going to be using it for either business functions or leisure and with a phone carrying the TCO price of the G1 will expect to be able to open attachments (the most common kinds are pictures, pdfs, and word docs and the G1 can't do 2 of those 3), or they'll be looking for a decent multimedia 'phone where they'll want to listen to music using headphones, taking photos and recoding video (and the other 3 allows people to do at least one of those two out of the box, the G1 offered neither).
Looking to the future; Once cupcake is deployed to G1s the video recording will be taken care of. I hope someone at T-Mobile UK gets a clue and starts bundling (or even starts selling) the 3.5mm headphone adapter for the G1, and attachment viewers will come with time. Once that's all done we'll be seeing a much better result.
