I agree - they need to do something and do it very, very quickly. As a potential app developer, this is a very real stopping point. I have my app largely completed, but releasing it will require getting approval from management. There is no way I can even contemplate trying for that approval with the market in its current state. Step one of that process, a demo of a market install, is an absolute crash-and-burn given the current state of the comments. So we wait.
I'm not looking for, nor am I advocating out and out censorship. If an app is crap, I have no problems with the comments stating that it is crap, but there are many, many comments that are way over the top or are not useful (FIRST!!!) and should be either moderated out of the default view or removed.
