Did a little more research. As Mike Cleron says, the innovative apps will be LBS Mashups. We have a handful now, with Shazzam and Barcoding apps, etc. The LBS Mashups can create 1000 Innovative Apps!
What missing is Identity and P2P surrounding the concept of Virtual Contacts. These Virtual Contacts (for social, games, etc.) should remain separate from the regular contacts because of security reasons. They should be localized to each App. In other words, a Virtual Contact does not exist outside of a specific App. Every Virtual Contact is private to an Application. However, the ID of the Contact should not be private. So if I want to bring in Flickr photos or Twitter the day away, then I can bring these things into my Android Application. And I think OpenID is pretty much standardized around this. So the Google Account ID can become an OpenID just like Yahoo! implemented it. Then you can throw in OAuth for security. So OpenID solves the problem of Identity in Virtual Contacts. But what about P2P? How to Communicate? JXTA or XMPP? The problem with XMPP is that it's just too complex. And also with alot of Handsets coming on board at the same time, it will just crash XMPP servers and the won't know how to handle the overloads. So what's needed is a more P2P solution. JXTA? The problem with JXTA is that it's just too complex. Then to get it on Android, you would probably have to fiddle with it so much it would just be better to build it from scratch. And therein is my suggested solution for P2P. That a JXTA-like solution has to be built from scratch. So also one can move Intents freely and securely. - Juan T.
