Nothing lasts forever but hopefully USA will last a long time, at least several
millenia. :)

Point taken. I think the mighty super power U.S of A is also all set to lose
out the "super power" tag to other emerging countries. ??

Mobile market is too crowded and probably would not witness a monopoly since
there's too many parameters in play. Hope Android keeps its sanity in all these
troubled times.

Its shortsighted to claim that anyone has won anything.
At one point, someone may have said that the ROMAN EMPIRE had won the world,
but that didn't last. Neither did the British Empire.
Neither will MS, which has been steadily losing market share from a peak of
about 97.5% (six years ago) down to the current 88% -- this is counting
operating systems only. They're far further behind when it comes to other
popular software, like web browsers (70%), web servers (32%), and office
software (<80%).

Here's the question.

Microsoft won the Desktop.

Google won the Cloud.

Who'll win the Air?

I seriously heard some famous writer saying that people don't read
books anymore.

Before it was the TV that people (at least in the U.S.) watched "all
the time".
Now it's the PC or Laptop. I think Mobile can go both ways. You can
draw them in or draw them out.

That's a scary proposition. Look at Google. They were and are a
success in search because they lessened the
time of the search. They got a clean-looking page without all the ads.
So the Apps that seek to draw people out
into the real world may be the most succesful apps of all.
