Small electronics stores in NYC are the worst. They are always trying to rip
you off and you have to haggle just to get it down to a price that is fair. And
if the thing breaks good luck trying to return it. Morale is don't buy in small
electronic stores in NYC.

Thanks for the feedback ...

For the record, a few months ago I bought an 8 Gig card for a "good
price" in a "bulk package" from some company that sells via Amazon ...
it died unexpectedly ... I thought it was under warranty so I
attempted to get it replaced. Apparently the "bulk packaged" ones are
not under warranty so the price was not so good after all.

For some wacky reason yesterday I bought two Kingston 8 Gig class 4
cards in midtown Manhattan at a "Going Out of Business" sale from a
small electronics store. (If you are not from NYC never do this
unless you are willing to haggle or don't mind being ripped off).
Thing is that I knew the price was OKish and it they were in the
original blister pack. If you saw the movie Zohan you have an idea of
what the transaction was like.

Do you mean GB, or is India further back on the path of technology than
we'd all thought? :).

I went to Richie street (kind of like frys but set in a street full of
thousands of electronic shops) in Chennai and asked for a micro sd
card. They gave me a choice between a 4MB sandisk and kingston. I
chose kingston and bought it for Rs.450 ($10).

That's what we have here. No 8MB, no 16MB.. nothing. Either they are
not here or out of stock. Guess sometimes its easier not to have too
many choices :)

I am trying to determine what Micro SD Card is best for the G1. I
am
confused by the various technology designations ... class 2-6, SD vs
SDHC. Size vs reliability. Sweet spot cost-wise.

I would choose the most reliable/fastest over the largest. I have
searched for this info online, perhaps I just need search word help!
